I am a game master.

In my sophomore year of college, I was introduced to the world of tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs) in the form of Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition (D&D 5E). After 3 months of playing, I stepped up to the role of game master (GM). To be honest, I actually enjoy being a GM more than a player. I still play in games as a player to remind myself what it's like to be a player and to learn effective storytelling from other GMs.
I describe my style of GM-ing as a facilitator of a sandbox adventure. A sort of "play to find out" way of storytelling. I want my players to be involved in the world-building and to drive the story forward. I implement the philosophy of Powered by the Apocalypse (PbtA) in determining dice roll outcomes; you succeed in the action but the dice outcome determines the severity of the consequences. It may be a bit contradictory to how traditional D&D is played, but I find players are more engaged with their characters this way. It adds weight to the various character abilities.
